In Vitro Fertilization (IVF)

In Vitro Fertilization (IVF) is the process of fertilizing egg and sperm outside the body, on glass in laboratory. The procedure is performed when couple fails to conceive due to various reasons. Female partner will be examined and stimulated to produce ovaries, or medication will be advised to stimulate ovaries and will be removed from woman’s body. And male partner semen will be collected either by ejaculation or through PESA/TESA. Ovary and egg will be fertilized in laboratory through artificial insemination (IUI) or through ICSI process. Fertilized egg will be developed to embryo, 5 – 6 days old embryo will be transformed to blastocyst stage, ready to be transferred to uterus. Blastocyst embryo will be transferred to uterus, here outer layer zona pellucida dissolves to implant with wall of uterus and development starts.

IVF is effective form of Artificial Reproductive Technology (ART) technique used to treat infertility in couples. IVF will be performed generally when there is fallopian tube damage or blockage, woman aged above 35 years, ovulation disorders, premature ovarian failure, endometriosis, failure ejaculation, poor quality sperms, genetic disorder or any other related issue.
