Intra Uterine Insemination

Intrauterine Insemination (IUI) also known as artificial insemination, is one of the fertility treatments in IVF that involves directly injecting washed sperms into uterus. This process if performed when there is cervical mucus problem, poor quality sperms, vaginal penetration issues, if a man is suffering from retrograde ejaculation or any other issue causing infertility. When the natural process is not productive, artificial insemination is required to stimulate fertility procedure.

Large volume of male partner semen will be collected in the laboratory. Sperms will be removed from seminal fluid and directly injected into female partner uterus with the help of speculum and syringe during the fertile period, while the eggs are still in fallopian tubes. As sperms are directly injected into uterus, it is easy for to swim towards fallopian tubes where the eggs are matured for fertilization. IUI success rates are high within 4 to 5 treatment cycles. However, treatment success strongly depends on the woman age.
